September 10, 2004, Newsletter Issue #84: What about Preneed arrangements?

Tip of the Week

Many times I have heard of funeral agreements that do not address all concerns. It might not detail the make, name of manuf., materials, colors, etc. of the casket. AND if the spouse or family changes the casket at the time of need, it may void the whole agreement. (CHECK this on all contracts, please)It is best to attach a color photo of the unit chosen, and price paid. Often there are unanswered questions...`Suppose I purchase an oak casket and then I don`t die for 20 years and the oak casket is not available anymore?`"

The answer: By law the funeral home must replace it with another casket of the same materials and quality.
