October 8, 2004, Newsletter Issue #88: Who is notified of a death?

Tip of the Week

(My answer)
There is not any real list so to speak. The license b. only if they mail something to the house, same with voter`s info. Whenever anything is mailed, write deceased on the envelope without opening it, and that refuses it, it is mailed back to sender, so they can note their records.
If there was a checking account, you will need to show the certified death certificate, along with a power of atty in order to withdraw any funds (if you have not done that already)and to close the account.
IRS gets notified with the last return that a spouse files (if jointly) and the words deceased is also written across with their ss # as well.
Other than SS and to report to any insurance benefits or their work or pension plan, those are all I think.
Thank you for writing, and I hope this helps.
Always the Best, Betty Brown
