October 1, 2004, Newsletter Issue #87: How do I inform someone of a Death?

Tip of the Week

I can imagine it is hard to break such news. I would hope you would be able to call ahead of time if the person has been deathly ill, so they could come to be with them while they have the last few days or hours.
I can only say, when you have to call to inform of a death, not to rush into that right off. Maybe ask them to come down there, (or go in person if possible) that something has happened and you don`t want to go over it on the phone? (Unless it is a distance and the person would be required to travel)
