January 9, 2004, Newsletter Issue #49: Tips for Writing a Eulogy

Tip of the Week

A "speech at a funeral" about the deceased is called a Eulogy. They should point out the person`s love shared, family, roles that person had in life, and hobbies. But eulogies can include simple reminiscences, war stories, or favorite jokes.

If you feel you can do the eulogy, please practice it in front of a mirror. However, have in advance, a backup plan, someone who has been alerted, that with a nod from you, they will come and read this for you. Let them have practiced too. This could be a friend, pastor or mortician.
