May 7, 2004, Newsletter Issue #66: grief is grief - pet loss is hard too /

Tip of the Week

Animals give so much. Scientists have found that people who owned dogs were more likely to be alive one year after a heart attack than were people who didn`t own dogs. An added benefit is also people with pets had less increase in their heart rate and blood pressure when put under stress. Their blood pressure also dropped faster after a stressful event. The companionship and unconditional love a pet provides is priceless, and sometimes a pet becomes a family member.
