November 12, 2004, Newsletter Issue #93: Shock and disbelief of a death

Tip of the Week

Anger, craziness, memory problems, paying attention to other details, depression and grief, mourning for long periods of time, maybe being unable to cope with a future that now does not contain the love of their life, are common. There is self imposed isolation,(The person wants their world to stop, to stand still so they can react by being numb) the anger, the bargaining, the depression, and then the acceptance. Friends, church and family should help be there for this new widow or widower, for that friend that lost a loved one. The best thing you can do is let them know you are available to listen, cook, run errands, offer money if able, and more.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
